Social Potion

1350113781_budding    Ultimate Music Mix is proud to present,” Social Potion”, a wonderful sounding group, when we first heard their song “Stevie” we were floored, Carmen’s voice reminded us  so much of Stevie Nicks, and with those two together it felt like we were listening to a new Captain and Tennille.

    Together they have a great vocal and sound combination that is very enjoyable, you should close your eyes as you listen to Social Potion, and remember the sweet sound as they play, because we wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see that Social Potions music being played a lot on the radio. Us here at Ultimate Music Mix can see that happening in the near future.

Bio;

Take some pleasantly catchy melodies, add heartfelt lyrics and innovative drum beats and the result is Social Potion – a Toronto indie folk pop duo with a very full sound. Social Potion are married couple Carmen Toth and Aaron Jones. She’s on vocals, guitar, keyboard and she writes the songs. He’s on drums and occasionally guitar and keyboard. Their energetic and edgy sound has been compared to Kate Bush, Fiest, The B-52’s, Blue Rodeo, The GoGo’s, Jane Siberry, Tori Amos, Tom Petty, The White Stripes, Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.

Before Social Potion began performing live together in 2005, singer-songwriter Carmen Toth made her debut at Toronto’s Renaissance Café in 2002, and released her first EP album “Potional” in 2004. “Potional” would later become the name inspiration for “Social Potion”. In 2010, Social Potion recorded their self-titled EP album, now available on iTunes and Amazon.com.

Some of Social Potion’s past gigs include: The Winchester, El Macambo, The Rouge Valley Conservation Centre (various events since 2009), a government MP’s Community Barbeque, Lou Dawg’s Bar and Café and The Moore Gallery (private show). Venues Carmen Toth has played include: The Black Swan, Hirut Restaurant, The Winchester, The Rockpile, Free Times Café, Rancho Relaxo, Fade In Café, The Smiling Buddha, Dave’s on St. Clair (guest musician at Glen Hornblast's show), The Grover Grub & Pub, The Renaissance Café, The Government (NABS Gala Fundraiser) and Tuneology Music Store and School.

You can’t fake passion. That’s what makes these guys so special. Whether it’s Social Potion the band or Carmen Toth playing solo, it’s always a show that rocks. With an extensive catalogue of both original and cover songs, they easily connect with audiences of all ages. It’s not uncommon for people to get up and dance at their shows.

When they’re not rehearsing, recording or playing gigs, Social Potion enjoy swimming and yoga, which helps to keep them in top performing shape.
